Farm Staff Safety Inductions

(Introductory 1 day workshop)

Description:

In collaboration with WorkSafe Victoria, the new Farm Safety Staff Induction workshop will provide participants with a base level of general farm safety, understanding of available resources and develop an awareness of a proactive farm safe culture.

The 1-day theoretical and practical workshop will cover all the basics of farm safety, including a classroom-style setting in the morning and an on-farm practical session in the afternoon, your staff will not only gain valuable information but see it put into real-life examples and context on-farm.

 

Who will benefit from this training?

Targeted at farm staff, this workshop will provide an overview of safety hazards and risks that present every day on-farm, as well as tips to initiative safety discussions with other staff and management.

Farm staff who will greatly benefit from this workshop include:

Workshop details:

The workshop will cover a wide range of topics, ranging from chemical safety to working in isolation, personal protective equipment to driving and towing heavy machinery.  The fundamentals of farm safety will be covered in both theoretical and practical ways that will assist participants to develop a greater understanding of not only the ‘how’ of farm safety but ‘why’ it’s so necessary from a business perspective.

 

Workshop Partners:

Simon Jess, Presenter
Well known across the ag industry for his OHS knowledge and unique presentation style, Simon Jess will be the main presenter for this session. With over 20 years of experience in workplace health and safety training, Simon’s workshops are informative, educational and engaging. Simon has strong observational skills, knowledge of safety procedures, organization and planning and presentation abilities.

Simon’s philosophy is that farm safety is everyone’s business and responsibility. With the ability to apply a realistic, common-sense approach to everyday safety challenges, Simon’s works with individuals, organisations and industry groups to improve safety management within farm businesses and the wider agricultural industry.

Simon’s qualifications include a Diploma of Agriculture,  Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety and Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety. Simon’s professional yet approachable presentation style motivates all participants to engage in farm safety and take the learnings back to their business.

This workshop is a new workshop for 2021 and has been supported by WorkSafe Victoria.
